Do you know what an atom is? Everything that is made up of matter is made up of atoms, excluding energy. An atom is made up of neutrons, protons, the nucleus, and electrons. We have been able to obtaine this knowledge over time thanks to a couple of scienctist. Continue to scroll down so that you can see how our knowledge of atoms began and how it progressed to what we now know.

ADDITIONAL RESEARCH

Click on the Youtube video above to see how scientists have pictured an atom and how their experiments and models have progressed the elements of an atom over time. You will learn about Democritus, John Dalton, J.J. Thompson, Ernest Rutherford, Niels Bohr, and Erwin Schrodinger.

Clip on the Brain Pop video above to learn about how J.J. Thomson, Ernest Rutherford, and James Chadwick contributed to the structure and our knowledge of an atom.
